This lovely home set in a quiet Western North Carolina neighborhood is the perfect setting for this beautiful French country interior makeover. Surrounded by Rhododendrun, Oak and Pine trees, this lovely cottage home is a perfect haven to escape from the hussle and bustle.
The home owners of this lovely home came to The Drapery Company and asked us to cook up a dish of French Country Charm right in the middle of the North Carolina mountains. They wanted to add more color and respect to this bedroom suite to create a cozy, classy, somewhat French feel. This particular bedroom was to serve as guest quarters when visitors came to enjoy the owners popular vacation town.
With a red and cream Toile de Jouys bedspread as the starting point, the lady of the house chose a warm, red and cream, wavy, ribbon linen for the draperies. We counter balanced this with a mini red and cream colored check ticking for the Roman shades (two are not shown). We felt that we should add width to the smallish sized window behind the bed so we extended the draperies a foot beyond each edge. The center checked Roman shade took care of the rest of our illusion.
Our client chose finials to finish off the ruching on the gathered rods to match the wood finish on the white washed bed and side tables. To add a little more drama, we brought in a much bolder red and cream stripe fabric for the central decorative pillow. The red tassel is pure whimsy. Two soft bolsters nestled on either side to create a bed warm and inviting enough for any weary traveler.
When all was finished, the owners were thrilled with their new bedroom make over. The room was all that was anticipated: red, cozy, comfortable, soft, and ... just in time for guests!
