Located in Montreat, NC, a college and retreat town boasting some of the most beautiful scenery in the South East, the owners of this beautiful home contacted The Drapery Company wanting custom window treatments for their guest room and one of their youngest daughter’s rooms.

In the guest room we decided to “viva la difference” and celebrate, as it were, the contrast in size, shape and situation between the two windows we would be working with. Using two totally different designs for the window treatments we found the perfect Laura Ashley English riding toile for these horse lovers matching beautifully the cobalt and sky blue colors already in the room. To add even more interest and distinction between the treatments, we trimmed the valance with a tricolored tassel fringe and placed plaid ties on the two side by side mini-roman shades. The result! A fully draped, delightful room with warmth and interest enough for any guest to feel at home in.

In their youngest daughter’s room we created a yellow and sage green garden haven using a beautiful “bird and fountain” fabric from Thibaut’s Canterbury Collection. To add a flare for the feminine we added wide bows in a playful yellow swirly fabric chosen by the room’s young resident to set off the beauty of her “garden paradise” and the wonderful girlishness of her youth. She even arranged her newly draped book shelves herself showing a talent for design and detail! This room was a delight to do and an obvious success with the owners. When we left the home, our young recipient was still rearranging furniture and accessories, so excited was she to be able to finally sleep in a canopy of birds, butterflies and fountains.
